The Purpose

ORDER ARTHOUSE is committed to expanding both financial and creative opportunities to African American creatives who drive socio-political conversations or document culture through visual arts.

What OA Offers

Each grant (tiered by film length) provides creative capital to artists of color with a qualifying synopsis/script and entry fee.

By offering an exclusive space to financially support black art, ORDER ARTHOUSE levels the playing field for minority artists.

The Backstory

OA started in October 2019 as the brainchild of Founder/CEO Danielle N. Coley, a writer, executive producer, and digital media analyst based in Decatur, GA. Driven by the “beauty in balance,” OA grants are designed to propel the careers of underrepresented artists in the film industry.

OA’s mission is far more personal than professional. In December 2014, Danielle relocated to Atlanta, GA from her hometown in Norfolk, VA — seeking like-minded artists in “The Hollywood of the South.” What she encountered were talented, but disgruntled creatives of color whose work was routinely overlooked or underfunded.

Using this as momentum, she and a church colleague formed a collective called Destiny Arts and Entertainment, an arts and entertainment group out of Atlanta, GA. The group produced a play (“Whose Holiday Is It Anyway?”) and hosted several events to support our resident artists.

Still, she wanted to do more. After several rejected attempts at shopping scripts of her own for screenwriting competitions, Danielle had had enough. She was determined to create her own lane … and the rest is history.
